Naturally, your cabin air filter keeps impurities and contaminants like pollen, dust, allergens, and exhaust fumes from going through your vents and into your cabin, but over time, your filter can be clogged, accumulate dirt or mould, and potentially harm your health, especially if you have respiratory problems. If you notice the air isn’t coming through your vents as strongly or if you detect an unpleasant odour in your cabin air, odds are your filter needs changing. We strongly suggest changing your filter as soon as notice these issues, as a dirty or clogged filter, can damage your heating and air conditioning systems over time if left unattended.
It's best to err on the side of caution and get your cabin air filter changed either once a year or every 20,000 km. Filters are often located under the glove compartment or the hood on the passenger side, and you can disconnect your glove box before removing your old filter. Remember to swap in your new filter according to the arrows indicating its air flow, then reconnect your glove box, and you’ll be good to go.
